In September 2015 a 8.3 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Chile which triggered a 16 foot tsunami wave, killing 11 people and destroying more than 170 homes. One of the homes that was destroyed belonged to Raul Alvarez, an avid Pat Metheny fan. Raul lost everything, including his Ibanez Pat Metheny signature model guitar. Amazingly, 5 weeks after the tsunami swept away his guitar it was recovered and returned to him. When Pat heard Raul’s story he took immediate action and arranged for Ibanez to send Raul a new guitar, this one signed by Pat. In March Raul received the guitar.
