This fits with the other subject but
deserves one alone as well. For
those who don’t know, Estrella
Morente is the most important
flamenco singer in many years.
Her father was Enrique Morente.
She has presented on her new
record Pat’s "Find me in your
dreams" with lyrics by her late
father. This is one of the greatest
performances of any Metheny
composition. Accompanied by Pat
playing all the instruments.
Metheny is the greatest composer
of his and following generations
and she may be the greatest
singer. It is pure magic. |

Pat actually performed this song live at the wonderful Palau de Musica in Barcelona with Enrique during 2008. Pat played trio with Antonio Sanchez & Christian McBride and then also appeared with Enrique’s group. They also performed the two tunes they collaborated on from Suena la Alhambra project. A truly magical evening**********

Thanks for sharing! I totally agree with you that this is one of the greatest performances of any Metheny composition. Absolutely beautiful! For this reason I have added it to the subject ’Vocalese’ versions of Pat Metheny songs. I suppose you don’t mind...

Indeed a lovely version of this particular tune, with Pat playing in a nostalgic mood. I don’t understand Spanish but I gather this is a tribute to Enrique. Quite heartfelt. The rest is different but equally attractive if you like flamenco. This track however stands out.
