You know Pat is going to put on a stellar show at Berklee. Plus it being the last show of the tour, I have a feeling we are all in for something really special!

Bookmark and Share Showboating or no, the live version of AYGWM just wouldn’t be the same without that emphatic shout of "waaaa-hoooo!" at the end. I suppose the expunge button was available in the studio thereafter but was conspicuously left alone. And the rest is history.

Bookmark and Share Pilgrimage to the promised land of jazz. 1019 miles plus 200 dollars in tickets. You can still see them though - in Asia.

Bookmark and Share I don’t know guys.Think of us down here in Florida who didn’t get a Unity Band show.I probably would have been on my knees on the floor shoutin’ "Thank you God!!! Thank you Jesus!!! Thank you Pat for bein’ here!!! Hallelujah!!!" Now that would change the moment for everybody in the audience, wouldn’t it? :)

Bookmark and Share I think the sentiment comes from a good place inside and does more good than harm. We’re not sitting in a library here. Interaction between the audience and performer is expected - heck, encouraged, one hopes. Given the right timing, of course, and that I think was that.

Bookmark and Share I agree with s. Someone right behind me did the same thing in Austin saying "Beautiful" right after the encore. It somehow made the afterglow less beautiful. Austin seems to have a lot of showboats.

Bookmark and Share I will just mention - I was also near the person who said "Thank you" just as Pat finished the final encore. And I wasn’t happy with that person. I wish I could ask him why he would want to interject himself into the performance like that. If you really want to thank Pat for coming out and playing a beautiful encore, the best way to do it is be quiet and let the final note fully die out into silence. Let us all savor that perfect ending. Let it be about the music, and Pat, not about you.

Bookmark and Share Yeah that was Solar. Fitting since they took that little jam right into outer space! That was jawdropping!

Bookmark and Share @hannalee It was Solar, wasn’t it? I loved the trio of duets concept; each chosen tune was absolutely perfect for the respective musician Pat called to order.

Bookmark and Share I’ll gladly have another slice of that cake, too, Tom. Here’s my take (first posted under the existing NYC thread): Pat and the band brought the tour to a close last night in Boston and all I can say is WOW! Having seen the show in Lowell MA over the summer, and in the meantime watching the rising crescendo of praise the tour has garnered on this forum, I now have a vivid appreciation for the way Unity Band just keeps getting better and better the more they play together. A personal highlight was the Orchestrion Sketch, which has now become more of a Magnum Opus. Pat concluded the evening with a solo acoustic medley with such poignancy and control - it was breathtaking. Simply beautiful. As someone close to the stage in the row behind me said aloud just after Pat’s final note, "Thank You." And I believe everyone in that hall heard that sentiment and felt it, including Pat. Thank you for an amazing tour, Pat Metheny Unity Band!

Bookmark and Share Anybody.....What was the tune that Pat did with Chris Potter as a duet at Berkley Boston?? (thought it was a Miles tune but also thought H+H from Question and Answer?) That particular duet was as good as anything I’ve ever heard. Nothing short of jaw dropping....staggering.

Bookmark and Share What a show! Everything I expected and more. Pat is at the top of his game. Tore the roof off with Roof Dogs, and that was just the second song. And Chris Potter OMG! he let loose like a cannon all night. I have seen Chris with the Dave Holland Big band a couple times, but listening to him last night stretching it out, was just unbelievable. I was very impressed with Ben Williams, what an amazing young talent. And Antonio was playing like I have never seen him play before. I truly hope we have not seen the last of this Metheny line up. One more CD would put the frosting on the cake! We can only hope.
