Wow! Friday 9/28 ... Lights goes
down, Pat comes out and ... Brought
the Magic (Capital M)!! Third time I’ve
seen them this week. The other 2
shows were fantastic as usual but last
night ... They were hitting on ALL
cylinders. It seemed Pat and the
fellows were enjoying the energy from
the crowd and took the night
’Supersonic’! OMG!! (Won’t be a
spoiler here, but) You need to hear
them live. Thank You Pat and Unity!
Most fun I’ve had in many long time.
And as if the evening could get any
better ... Pat signed my Pat Metheny
Model PM35! Grateful and humbled ...
He has always been so gracious and
generous toward his fans ... it is
appreciated. I know this is gushing but
those who get it ... understand the
Metheny high. |

This was the first time I had seen Pat in
about 30 years - last time at the old
Universal Amphitheater in LA - quite a
different crowd back then. The concert
was amazing! Loved the Alto/Bass? flute
on "Are you going with me"...haunting
and beautiful; loved the duets; loved
everything! Great show!!!

I was also at the concert in Costa Mesa and agree it was one of the best Pat shows I have been to. The energy and intensity was at a very high level. And the crowd added to that energy in a positive way. I hope they release a DVD of this tour (Friday’s show would have been perfect).
Just out of curiousity does anyone have the whole set list from the night?

In Detroit they were limited to 1 hr 15 min so they played some of the tracks from the album plus an encore. Did they play many of Pat’s other tunes when they do the "full concert" ?

One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended! I last saw Pat with PMG at UCLA on their Speaking of Now Tour. And for one reason or another I had missed him when he was in town, until this CM concert. I felt so impressed and inspired by how for almost 2.5 hours Pat was in on almost every musical passage, including the 3 encores! Great to see that he enjoys playing the music as much as I do listening.
One aspect of the concert that I found a bit odd was that so many of the concert goers seemed older (I’m 44) and better dressed. I almost thought I was at the wrong hall, and had stumbled on a classical concert. The age group I can understand, given that Pat is in his 50’s, but I guess I was expecting a bit more "earthy" dressed-down crowd. My blue jeans and t-shirt were definitely in the minority.

The last encore tune was "The Good Life" not "Vera Cruz". Fitting....An O.C. song for the O.C.

I agree this was his best show in So-Cal. Completely tore it up! Not sure if the last encore song was "Vera Cruz" or not. Anyone know?

Was there and completely agree! I was
blown away by the 3 different encores!!
Didn’t think OC had it in them but they
proved me wrong! Loud and appreciative
crowd. Thanks Pat & band for stopping
in OC!!
