Another great album with Pat that is often sometimes missed is "Like Minds". I brought this one out today for a listen. Cool and rainy day put me in the mood for this one. Gary Burton put together this album with two of his favorite musicians in the world to play with Pat Metheny and Chick Corea. It also has Roy Haynes and Dave Holland on it..and is a great album that I never see mentioned here. For those of you who have never heard this album it is definitely well worth it. Compositions by Pat, Gary, and Chick spread across this album.

Bookmark and Share Woah! In the judgement of this mere mortal this record has one of PM’s best solos; listen to his lyricism on Corea’s classic "Windows"; a thing of beauty...

Bookmark and Share I aggree with the other guys - at first it didn’t really click. But now after many many listenings I really love it. I am still bothered by the stereo mix, though, having Chick all out to the left. And Pat deserves a little more volume. But still a very great album !

Bookmark and Share Good album. First time for Pat and Chick to record together, anchored by those big boys. And the old wizard with the mallets--our generation’s Miles of recruitment (if that makes sense)--anchoring it all. Talented bunch on Like Minds.

Bookmark and Share I bought this when it came out and expected more than I heard. It has a few good cuts, but overall I never really thought it lived up to it’s billing.

Bookmark and Share don’t know why but this one didn’t click for me. Pat described it as Q&A trio meets CHick/Gary duo. I like the two seperate bands more than the combined effort. In my mind the best cover of the song Q&A was on trio live, then on the album Q&A, then on the Quartet Album , then this one. Maybe I’ll have to give this album a re-do.

Bookmark and Share This is one of my least listened to. And I don’t know why. I know this like a Jazz Super Group, but the music on this CD always seemed little sterile to me. I bought this when it came out, listened a few times and that was it. I have to try again, it’s been years since I put this in the CD rack.

Bookmark and Share PeterW, I agree with you. I love this CD. I remember the first time I saw it - I was visiting a cousin in NY and we went to the village to some record store that he knew of (just to "browse"). When I saw Like Minds - I remember being really excited, as I have been a big fan of all of the players and to find this CD with them all together, just blew me away! I was of course, not disappointed at all.
