Just read in Downbeat that Jaco’s son, Felix has joined The Yellow Jackets. Anyone heard him? Just because he is Jaco’s son doesn’t make him a great bassist, but I can imagine that the genetic link would work in his favor, no? |

I’ve heard play with Jeff Coffin’s Mu’tet and he’s excellant. What I really respect in his playing is he doesn’t try to sound or play like Jaco , he’s more understated, But he definitely inherited some talent and I think by sitting it with the Jackets for a year will be a great learning experience.

Sure it can. Johua Redman, Ravi Coltrane, Matthew Garrison,to name a few.

Been discussing this topic a bit already in the "what are you..." -thread. I don`t think the Jackets would hire him just because of the name. Haven`t heard him play, but I guess there must be a genetic link there :o) Anyway it`s just a one year step-in for Haslip.
