I caught JT on the last night of his UK tour at the Cardiff International Arena, and what a great show it was! A varied programme of favourites old and new, a cracking band (Larry Goldings, Mike Landau, Jimmy Johnson, Chad Wackerman), three excellent backing singers, one of whom played violin. Add to that JT’s amiable persona - during the interval and after the show he was signing autographs from the front of the stage - and you have the recipe for a great gig. I was slightly misty-eyed by the third encore, with 5000 Welsh voices singing along to "You’ve Got a Friend"...

Bookmark and Share Same over here, flugeler, on hearing Wayne Johnson’s Arrowhead for the first time. If I’d been in a car I would have pulled over as well :) Not in the least because of Flim Johnson’s bass playing.

Bookmark and Share fred--In my best Dana Carvey-esque imitation of Johnny Carson..."I did not know that..." Goes to show when you think you’ve got a handle on the music biz, the obvious and well-known by everyone else bites you in the butt. A micro second of googling woulda probably enlightened me.

Bookmark and Share zargb5--I must have missed that the first time I read the start of this thread--Chad Wackerman and Jimmy Johnson??...I had to rub my eyes a couple of times. I think JT is a brilliant musician and guitar player but those two on drums and bass would have been extremely unexpected to say the least, although I’ll give props to JT, he recognized their incredible synergy as a rhythm section and capability to play anything that’s thrown at them. I wonder if they’ll do a bit of Wardenclyffe Tower during sound check.

Bookmark and Share barefoot through snow ? thats nothing . back in the 1900s we had to fight off wild animals and maruading vagabonds just to pay the concert hall owner for permission to stand outside and strain to hear a few tunes . But we were happy .

Bookmark and Share I took one look at the prices and decided not to go to the O2, which would have been my nearest venue. I’ve seen him indoors and out a couple of times in recent years and enjoyed both gigs a lot. I just felt I’d be repeating the dose in less agreeable surroundings this time. I’ll check out those clips though...

Bookmark and Share Long ago, I accepted JT as my personal savior. One of the greatest. Larry Goldings, too! BTW, the singer who plays fiddle is Andrea Zonn, a fantastic musician in her own right ... check out her beautiful album Love Goes On. She’s the daughter of one of my university composition professors back in the 1900s.
