Question: | I'm not sure if anyone asked this before but I was curious why "THE AWAKENING" was not played during the tour. I have a theory that this composition is more Lyle's arena, I mean to say that even though there is a lot of guitar in the mix, you don't actually "solo" in it. In my opinion, it's a little similar to "FIRST CIRCLE" where there's a lot of guitar but no real guitar "solo" although I think the guitar is more prominent in FC than TA. |
Pat’s Answer: |
we tried playing a few different versions of it live, and as sometimes happens, it just didn't work as a live piece. the composition itself was written by me and lyle together and it really isn't more his or mine. we each contributed about equally i would say. the role of the guitar doesn't really factor in too much as you noted by the first circle example. it just wasn't great live. we have had at least one other tune (the search) that had a similar groove and that one didn't work too great live either. |
