Subject: | GMA appearance - strike at abc |
Category: | General Questions |
From: | Bill Philips (Upstate NY) |
Question: | I love pat but is he aware that GMA's network (ABC) is involved in some very anti-labor activities. They have locked out union workers that are making quite reasonable requests. I thought pat said that he read Zinn's "A Peoples History of the US". I was convinced that pat was very politically aware. A POSITIVE guy like pat don't need to be hanging around the negative crowd at ABC. |
Pat’s Answer: |
the piece that was shown on abc's good morning america on nov. 27th was actually taped on aug. 18th - a few months before the strike. as a member of the musicians union, i would not have been able to cross the picket line if it had been scheduled to be a live performance. i wouldn't have played that day with the strike going on. but to be totally honest, i live very close to where the strike has been going on, and i have been listening to those striking guys incessantly blowing their whistles and sirens full blast outside the management offices 24 hours a day for the past 6 weeks, and i am pretty much sick of the inconsiderate way they have imposed the implementation of their strike on not just the abc managment, but the entire area. i will be very glad when it is resolved, less for political reasons, than that i would love to get some sleep! |
