Subject: Farmer’s Trust
Category: Specific Tunes
From: Richard Arao (Nairobi, Kenya)
Question:

Hey Pat, I really can’t emphasize how much I love "Farmer’s Trust"; it is all at once a melancholic chant, a soothing lullaby, a celebration of life in its simplicity and just a hint of an ode to Mother Nature.

What is the history behind this tune? Also, could you tell the tale concerning the addition of the ’bird chirping’ to the track

Pat’s Answer:

Hi Richard,

That tune is a special one. There are some tunes that you can play a few times or for a tour and then they have kind of had their time in the sun and you both move on. There are others that you can pound on them day after day, year after year, other people can play them, they can be done different ways and they always seem to retain the thing that makes them what they are no matter what. I find I can play that one just about every night and there is always something new to it. Nana added the birds on the tour that he did with us which was the first recorded version of the song. I am happy you like it.
