I just learned that NEA Jazz Master Benny Golson passed away at 95 years old. Benny was not only an excellent tenor saxophonist, but also a prolific composer. I caught many of his shows at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago since 2010 and always enjoyed his playing and jazz stories. He had an impressive resume with legendary jazz musicians, jazz bands and his bands (as leader and co leader).
