Attended The Pat Metheny Unity Band, Count Basie Theater, Red Bank NJ, 3-23-2014. The work ethic, skills and creative exploration of a band that thrives on Pat’s compositions for band members’ strengths and improvisation continues to be without peer. Pat and Co. are always onto the "next thing" which means they are ceaselessly growing and working. Kin (<--->) the recording and tour are beautiful and relevant, historically important and joyful. Not another artist or band in the same class. This is music (art) of the highest kind, it asks a lot of the listener and you will not hear it all until you listen repeatedly, like all great music. You get what you give. Do the work. Get the reward. |
