The home page on this beautiful new site says that Pat has done a soundtrack for an
upcoming PBS program called "Becoming Califonia" in conjunction with the
California Lagacy Project.I’m excited about this,as it would combine California/Western Scenery with
Pat’s music-two of my favorite things. One can only hope that in addition to the film, that
a soundtrack recording would be forthcoming-PLEASE!!! |

It’s only a couple of seconds, around the 1:21 mark, I think, thehague. But I caught a definite whiff of that old Blade Runner magic. I like the soundtrack, too, but I’m not a fanatic. The film’s a different story--absolutely love it. But this isn’t a BR topic, so I’ll just echo that I hope there’s a soundtrack of BC as well. (Gotta stick to topic, or else.)

Interesting remark about Vangelis, naut. I love that Blade Runner soundtrack! There is a boxset these days. Three or for discs I believe. Let’s hope Becoming California will result in a soundtrack CD.

Heard what, to me, sounded very much like a Vangelis Blade Runner quote on Lassen.

I watched and listened to a number of these vids. There was some of the most countryish country music I’ve ever heard Pat make on one or two. I also hope there’s a soundtrack release. Ah, it just hit me, seadog, that MOTW is Map of the World; wasn’t sure at first. I was reminded of that too when I heard a few tracks. I love that album. Pat signed my copy, and Jane signed her book. I have a good feeling that there will be an album of the music once the program has aired. Thanks for the heads-up on this, hman!

After seeing and listening to all of the trailers on Youtube (search California Environmental Legacy Project) I think this
may be the sleeper project of the year. Just beautiful stuff with echoes of everything from MOTW, FAS, SS and more.
Only about 10 minutes of stuff in total, but absolutely gorgeous cinematography and those melodies and chord
structures that just melt you. There has GOT to be a soundtrack release!

Hmmm.... good idea you have. I have already recorded the music from the clips off the computer and was wondering the same thing. With PBS involved (i think) maybe requests from us would be listened to. A lot of times you can buy products that have aired on PBS. We should watch carefully and communicate with those in charge to make that request. I would be very willing to buy the documentary especially if it came with a bonus disc of audio. As with all soundtracks what i have heard so far is music that supports the documentary not as dynamic as music on its own merits, somewhat repetetive etc. However, you are right the video melding with Pat’s music with CA wildlife is so great .
