LindaV Jun 16 2012 at 2:38 PM	hmmm Spring release time has (almost) come and gone. Now when? Waiting for theatrical release to get friends to go and watch them be blown away. Love to see Pat newbies be gobsmacked. heh
mountain Jun 13 2012 at 11:49 AM	It was a rather dry article and I found myself somewhat disappointed about the approach taken. Albeit, the performance is the key element, I would have hoped for my documentary approach to the Orchestrion equipment, how it works, a diary of the road crew having to set it up and break it down continuously on the road, intimate moments with Pat tweaking and twiddling with Ableton Live and other buttons and knobs, etc. An intimate look into all the aspects of the Orchestrion along with a full performance. At any rate, I am looking forward to its release and will hold judgement until I have had a chance to view it. Hope the June date reference is a release date, but with all the focus on the Unity Band release and tour, I would not be surprized if the DVD is held for release in the fall.
thehague Jun 13 2012 at 10:23 AM	Thanks, -m, read it myself in the meantime. Indeed not earth shaking. Well, I do have high hopes for the dvd. Hope you’re well. I skipped North Sea Jazz for yet another year and I imho I made the right choice there, as the Unity Band is not exactly what I was waiting for. Not bad though.

bpsail Jun 12 2012 at 3:10 PM	The link worked for me, so you might want to give it another try. Anyway, the article says that the film was shot in 3-D, but the 3-D effects are subtle, not distracting, and it has excellent sound. There is also a link to about 3 minutes of video from the film. One major difference from the concerts is that Metheny seems to more or less surrounded by the Orchestrion, rather than performing in front of it. At least, some of the instruments are in front of him. The release date seems remains unclear. There was mention of Spring 2012 and sometime in June.
