FGHR is an Australian band compromsing of Darryn Farrugia, Leonard Grigoryan, Luke Howard and Ben Robertson sounding very much like the old ECM classical PMG. Leonard Grigoryan is the brother of Slava with whom he has recorde several cds. Slava toured and recorded with Ralph Twoner and Wolfgang Muthspiel on From a Dream. FGHR’s two cds Stationary and Going Home sound very much like PMG. eg. Red red road starts like (Cross the) Heartland. Piano sounds very mch like Lyle Mays and Grigoryan has a real metheny feeling. Cds are hard to obtain but you can watch two videos on youtube, one of them shows the group performing a song called Hornsby. I think this is not a reference to Bruce Hornsby but to an Australian location. I like them very much!

Bookmark and Share Me to Jazziz, I would love to see a all new music PMG Quartet release. Pat, Lyle Steve and Antonio. Back to their roots just like the white album.

Bookmark and Share Check them out on iTunes ... CD’s are only $9.99 - they remind you of PMG ... this only makes me wish/hope there is a new PMG CD in the near future ...

Bookmark and Share They really really sound very much like the PMG, especially the pianist plays very very much like Lyle Mays. (But granted that you like Lyle mays it is a pleasure to listen to FGHR) Unforuntantely the cds are hard and quite expensive to obtain. I ordered them here in Germany via an internet store ppc.de and the ds cost more than average. They are not on slae at cdnow, cdbaby or cdunverse, let alone amazon. The cd with Towner Muthspiel and Grigoryan is available in standard shops.

Bookmark and Share Heard more on their web site. You can listen to full tunes from both their albums. There is one song that is very similar to "Across the Heartland" It’s written well and sounds very nice. The only thing is, it sounds so much like PMG that you kind of say to yourself, why am I listening to this when I can be listening to the real thing. Obviously a talented group of musicians. Pat does not tour Downunder very often maybe this is their way of getting their Metheny fix.
