Another year goes by, I don’t have a chance to see Pat. It’s mostly Europe this year, and I wonder if Pat thinks Europeans are are a more appreciative audience than the US, or maybe Pat simply likes to travel in Europe ... or that European are more sophisticated musically... I suspect all of these reasons have some truth. Well, what do y ’all think. ??

Bookmark and Share I am one of those who has been around loving Pat, PMG and his projects for decades. Every concert has been something special and all have been on US soil. That being said, my dream is to one day travel to Europe (I have been there only once in 58 years and loved every minute...) to hear the PMG, outdoors in some magical venue ripe with history.

Bookmark and Share Pat is 1/4 Norwegian, and recorded some of his best music in Norway. He has been here many times in different settings, and loves my home town so much he named a beautiful song after it; "Tromsø"...

Bookmark and Share Pat answers the question of demograhpy. This is Google translation from a quote in a Mexican paper Mar 27 re: current concert. "Some nights, ... I can not believe my eyes. Even developers are amazed because they had never seen an audience as diverse as they come to see us because it includes from a jazz fan’s heart 50 years kids who listen to Phish and other jam bands. The United States also has to do with a mixture of races: whites, blacks, Latinos and Japanese jazz supporting anyone in the world. It’s almost funny to see the public look out because you see people who are sitting will probably never speak to each other. It’s great that people so different can find something that resonates with what we do. When I see that I consider it a success."

Bookmark and Share I agree with Foper’s earlier comment about how short sighted it is to say that only a certain demographic group of people enjoy Pat’s music. Maybe things are different in your neck of the woods, but when I see Pat on the West Coast and look around, I see a very diverse group - all appearing to really dig his music. I challenge you to do the same.

Bookmark and Share Patsfan… We’ve been down this road dozens of times in this forum. It’s an ill-informed, narrow-minded view that only a limited sector of society can appreciate Pat’s music. I’m a mildly rednecked, gun loving conservative that has hugged Pat’s music since nearly the beginning of his career. Doesn’t this just blow your theory out of the water? Why can’t we just discuss music and the beauty it brings all of us without weeding out certain people you happen to disagree with philosophically? As I stated, I am a conservative; how is it I see Pat’s music in a far more broad sense than you, yet you claim you have a more enlightened point of view on his music? Oddly ironic is you ask me.

Bookmark and Share Well, he likes Italy a lot for sure. Especially in the summer. And looking from clips of concerts set up in the open air in some incredible medieval town square, who can blame him? It was great he went to Australia and NZ a few years back, but some of his Aus fans still missed him by several thousand miles! The price of success. But then he could make a good living just playing New York, Chicago, London, Rome, Milan, Berlin, Munich, New York, Chicago... in one big loop. Probably be quite cost effective too.

Bookmark and Share Patsfan… I could be in my car listening to Pat and get the same feeling as seeing him live. The venue has very little to do with the experience for me. In fact I got more out of seeing Pat at Blues Alley (a crusty old back alley bar in Washington DC) than anywhere I’ve ever seen him. I, along with so many others in this forum, have been listening to Pat since his beginnings back in the mid 70s; back in the days where virtually no Europeans (or the rest of the of the world) were able to experience him yet. Who could possibly understand or appreciate Pat better? Where you live in the world has nothing to do with the level of appreciation you might have for Pat.
