In the face of continued wars, strife and economic upheavel, it seems one of the best contriubtions that the USA can give is the gift of jazz. This art form contributes more to the collective good of society than many things besides producing weapons.......it is Pats’ choice I am sure to play for the European audiences that are so appreciative..........but in my humble opinion......what a wonderful gift to give to that part of the world....... |

I always thought Americas gift to Europe was the financial deficit. But no, we’re doing it all ourselves. Splendidly too :-(.

I did through mine out Dazed...but it seems to sneak back in on Sunday mornings. It’s like that Twilight Zone episode where the machines take over...

lol no, hip hop in high rez never entered my mind Hague. Oh by the way -m, I can’t do political talk shows anymore either. Given the choice between X Factor or AI or politics....I’d rather throw my TV out the window I think.

Dazedcat you need to stick to political talks shows. They don’t make sense either but at least they’re not about music. ;-) And after all we’re adults now... What is it about rock ’n roll, I mean I like to play it but I sure don’t like the rackett...I’m an adult now.

Unfortunately I actually watched 10 minutes of X Factor while channel surfing last night. Some young kid who goes by "Astro" beat out a woman who can actually sing to advance. Young "Astro" is a rapper.......God help me please.

Hey The Hague, Greece and Italy? don’t underestimate the biggest part of the biggest penninsula! Seventeen parliaments for 40 million people it’s not a bad record.

Talking of American Idol, is it worse than
X-Factor. Here in the UK that is one truly
awful show! The ’x-factor’ is exactly what
they try to suck out of the hopefuls...

Oddly enough thehague, there are **some** HH artists I admire on close listening. FWIW my comment was more about the HH/AI cultural bent here in the US in general. In that respect I have to say it really bothers me. But I suspect you already know that. ;) OTOH: I’d really appreciate it if you would step in and take control of your banking system over there...the Greece/Italy thing is really causing me a lot of aggravation. Hope you’re well my friend.

Hmmmm, Greece, Italy versus HipHop and American Idol. Close call...but I’m thinking Greece and Italy might be better. ;-)

Europeans appreciate the Arts in general more than the US. They have a sense of the history and importance we lack over here.

Yes it seems jazz is flourishing in Europe today. Sleep well though, we still have hip hop and American Idol. :-)

Seriously - Jazz started in the US, but Europe is where it lives now.

Sad thing about it is, jazz seems to be flourishing in Europe and floundering in the US
