Having spent the past week with this book, I must write. If there remains anyone alive still skeptical of this amazing project, you owe it to yourself to spend an hour with the score. It is Pat’s crowning achievement to date. To simply come up with this idea and execute it at all near his usual hight standard would be enough, but the writing, especially "Orchestrion" is just amazing. The recapitulation at the end with the canon underneath is pure goosebumps. Have not checked out the new record yet, but will. |
