It’s too hard to get to the European dates. Any chance of playing in the UK? |

Hammersmith always the best place to see Pat. Rare now of course coz the place is always being booked by ’comedians’. But The Way UP gig at the Hammersmith Apollo was totally rocking in a way the rather staid Barb never can match. But no complaints about the Barb or anything else (especially when the ’moan’ police are around. As in you Barley!) |

You’ll get used to this place Fendweller. You should have witnessed The Basement. It was full of garbage but very enjoyable. Who knows? Maybe it’ll start up again. All the best, Barley. |

I agree, upstairs at The Barbican is good. Nice hall all round but the bar is like a barn. (They do serve Bushmills though) |

That was ages ago, not the previous post. And not really a moan either. Just a statement of an odds-on certainty. If it had been a moan I would have whined more, as in ’why oh why can’t they do more dates/dates at really interesting venues/play at my local pub’. I know as well as anyone else that we’re actually lucky to see as much of Pat as we do. So I actually agree with what you’re saying in that other thread. (A mistake though to assume that something said in one thread has anything to do with another thread. That’s where the whole ’bingo’ misunderstanding kicked off). |

Upstairs at the Barbican is excellent when stalls seats (for Sonny Rollins) are £65 but a seat up top is £10. Cheers John |

"If they do come to the UK, expect few dates. Possibly only one." A moan if ever I heard one. |

Err, where did I moan Barley? The bingo line was an attempted joke, believe it or not. As was my entire last post. Anyway, I will now have a look at the other threads as you suggest in the hope that they bring me enlightenment. |

My dear fendweller, check out the other threads and all will become clear. I live in the UK and have managed to experience Pat Metheny in concert every time he has graced these shores for the past 20 years. Stop moaning. |

Barley - bingo meaning what exactly. Your one-worder prompted an immediate shakedown of all known gig news sources for info on the hoped-for Barbican engagement, but in vain. Or did you mean that upstairs at the barbican is fit only for bingo? |

Bingo! |

The sweetspot there is around Row K downstairs, just as the tiered seating starts. Never had any complaints when I’ve sat there. I gather upstairs isn’t so good though. |

is the PA good at the Barbican? |

As others have pointed out elsewhere, more dates could still be added. Only about 12 in Europe so far, which sees way too few to merit a trip across the pond. Question is, will they come in October, before the current wedge, or in November - after the current wedge? If they do come to the UK, expect few dates. Possibly only one. And expect it to be the Barbican in London. |
