A review of The Modern Jazz Quartet: The Complete Atlantic Studio Recordings 1956-64, today at All About Jazz. Mosaic does it again, with a tremendous 7-disc set that collects all of the legendary group’s recordings over this 9-year period, 14 albums in all, along with what few bonus tracks there were kicking around in the vaults. Add Django, the quartet’s second Prestige disc (that predates this set), and the complete, 2-disc version of 1974’s The Last Concert (which, ultimately, wasn’t), and you’ve got it all - or, at least, all that matters....Review here: http://j.mp/qVqhvm |
