This has probably been said here before, but this is an awesome band! I caught them this past weekend in Easton,Pa and was blown away. Having only been a casual Frank and the MOF back in the day, I was not familiar with everything they played. But Dweezil is a tremendous guitarist and he has surrounded himself with excellant musicians who are spot-on perfect with the material.Great show if you get the chance to see them. |

Saw them the Sunday night in North Hampton, MA. Great show, amazing musicians, not quite the set list I would request had I been given the opportunity but still loved the concert! Would have liked to have heard Dog Breath, Strictly Genteel, Muffin Man or The Ocean is the Ultimate Solution. They really changed up Father Oblivian and Big Swifty to my dismay but every other tune was thoroughly enjoyable. My only gripe would be the idiots that think they are DJ’s instead of a band and scream requests from their seats while Dweezil is talking to the audience. I wish they would stop serving alcohol at these venues as that could have been part of the problem. |

I looked up Saint Alphonso on a Catholic website.0 results.Nothing on Father Oblivion either.I thought Saint Alphonso was supposed to be the patron saint of white and fluffy pancakes.I wonder how to have him cannonized(made a saint). The pancake is a staple of church breakfasts around the world.Let’s start a movement on this website. The work of Saint Alphonso should not go unnoticed. |

I agree with "Hambone". I saw them the other night in Philly as well. They were excellent but I would love to hear a full show. RTF was excellent as well...Jean Luc Ponty’s playing was superb and I thought Stanley Clarke stood out...but then again he was playing to the hometown crowd. |

Thank GOD that ZPZ and RTF are out there keeping GREAT music with a full band alive and well! It is becoming a thing of the past. My 21 year old son says their music is too complicated for his friends to grasp. They would rather listen to something to which they can dance or grind. |

I agree Tom and Mike. After seeing ZPZ 2 weeks ago as headliner and then last night in Philly as warm-up to RTF, I would rather see them for a full set. Although, they did come out and do a non-stop 70 minute/12 song set that was just as good as the prior show. They really have a great book of Frank’s music to draw from now and they nail every song. Now having seen them twice, I would definitley spend the time and money to see them again, even as a warm-up,as long if it’s with a good headliner. |

The show that is closest to me, 2 1/2 hours away, will only be ZPZ and not RTF. As much as I would love to see RTF, I don’t want a shortened show of ZPZ. FZ’s music is unmatched! |

That’s the problem though, i saw ZPZ open for Dream Theatre and they played an abbreviated set. If you want the full ZPZ show it is best to see them headlining there own show. Either way they are great. Dweezil does his fathers music proud. That’s a nice thing. Frank Zappa’s genius should live forever Live on stage. |

The RTF/Zappa billing is a great example for the list that was being discussed a few weeks ago that centered around great warm-up bands. Because having seen RTF 3 years ago with Bela and the Flecktones I can assure you ZPZ will make a tremendous warm-up band for this tour. They might even warrant equal time, in my book. |

Now is a great time to see Zappa for another reason. They are currently doing dates with Return to Forever here in the States through September- that’s one sweet package! |

I am looking forward to it. Go in 6 days to see Zappa plays Zappa and Return to Forever. Should be a dynamite show. |

Having seen FZ’s bands every time they appeared in the UK since 1972, I can confirm that Dweezil’s crew are as good as any of Frank’s groups. They’re also touring the UK in the autumn and the good news is they’re playing 13 dates, 12 of them outside London, which makes a refreshing change. Major American acts usually play one gig in London before touring the rest of Europe. One not to miss. |

Recently added a youtube vid of Zappa Plays Zappa on facebook and included the caption: The best band you’ve never heard of. Zappa and Steve Vai swapped licks while the band was COOKING!!! I have found that fb is a great way to expose your friends to great music. After posting some of PMG’s vids, the response has been great - very flattering comments about Pat’s strumming and Sanchez’s drumming. |

I HAVE been a Zappa fan for a very long time. PMG and FZ are far and away my favorite sources of musical pleasure without ever getting old like so much other music. Dweezil has done an amazing job of keeping Frank’s music alive and is ABSOLUTELY worth going to see as he has assembled a group of musicians that will indeed blow you away with the most incredible music ever to be written and performed! |

Agreed. My best band buddy and fellow trumpeter was into FZ and Mothers back in the mid-70s, but I would rather us listen to Bill Chase, Chicago Transit Authority (with blazing Terry Kath!), or Steely Dan, and bypass FZ. But since then I have come to really appreciate FZ, and Dweezil has done an outstanding job with the Zappa Play Zappa gigs. A must see gig, esp. for those not familiar with FZ. |
