Just watched a clip of John playing Cerokee on the Tonight Show with the Doc Sevrenson band. John played a nylon string and tore it up. Someone put a comment down and said, "Sounds like the band forgot to turn off the Flintstones switch". It did sound dated. John saved them though. |

Hi Tom, I saw that video - pretty neat playing. At 69, John’s still playing with just as much heart and feeling as he did at 44.
Cheers
John

Actually, John was about 44 at the time. He is 69 now and this was roughly 25 years ago circa 1986. He did look good as always though.

I’ve seen this one before too. John looks about 20, which is probably close to what he was at the time.

I happened to catch the original showing of that back in the mid 80’s. I remember feeling real lucky to have seen it as I just happened to tune in at the right time. Drummer Ed Shaughnessy was quoted as saying that was his most memorable moment playing on the Tonight Show. I am glad that the clip is available on You Tube.
